Welcome and Overview
A message from the Director, Dan Duncan...
The ARDC, a research and education facility of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, is one of the largest and most dynamic research facilities in the world. Approximately 400 University of Nebraska-Lincoln employees work to conduct research and educational programs on the ARDC.
The ARDC consists of approximately 9,663 acres (3,912 hectares). About half of the land base is in row crops. Fifty percent of those row crops are irrigated. The balance of the site is predominately in cool and warm season pastures. Over 6,000 domestic farm animals used for research and teaching reside at the ARDC.
The scope and diversity of ongoing research projects at the ARDC combines to make the ARDC a very unique research facility. We have many unique features to boast about. For instance, how many ag research facilities have an on-site observatory – complete with a 30-inch telescope?
This ARDC's size and diversity offers many research and educational opportunities in integrated systems research. And our educational programs attract on average 10,000 people each year.
We've designed our website in a way that we hope you will find informative and easy to use. In the "Areas of Interest" category, you will find topics that ARDC research and education focuses on. We've provided information pertinent to ARDC activities, as well as helpful links to resources sites throughout UNL. Our goal is to provide you with the information you are seeking easily with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Research and educational opportunities are ongoing at the ARDC. Please explore our website to learn more!
